Dr. Daniel Ward, Senior Atmospheric Scientist, and Dr. Marc Simon, Senior Research Scientist, provided an in-depth look at new KCC catastrophe models in two presentations. “Modeling and Managing Wildfire Risk” addressed the specific reasons for increasing wildfire losses and how to manage the changing risk with the new KCC US Wildfire Reference Model. In “Modeling Inland Flooding,” Dr. Ward gave a critical look at the different methodologies used to traditionally model inland flooding and which methods are implemented in the new KCC US Inland Flood Reference Model.
