Hawaii Hurricane Snapshot

The limited overall land area of the Hawaiian Islands prevents frequent landfalling hurricanes. However when storms do impact Hawaii, an inventory of older, single-wall buildings are left particularly vulnerable. The KCC Hawaii Hurricane Reference Model incorporates both landfalling and by-passing hurricanes and tropical storms as well as the unique building inventory of Hawaii in order to provide the full range of potential impacts from tropical cyclone events across the islands.
