Superstorm Sandy Post Disaster Field Survey

November 14, 2012

As part of an on-going analysis of Superstorm Sandy, Karen Clark & Company (KCC) deployed a team of engineers to survey damage and assess the severity of the storm’s impact. Using the KCC footprint for the event, the damage survey team identified a broad region of New Jersey including areas likely to have experienced some of the peak wind speeds during the storm. Ground personnel were deployed to specific zones that included a mixture of the residential and commercial risks, and field observations were collected and analyzed to determine the extent and gradation of damage from the storm. This report summarizes our initial assessment of the damage from Sandy, and highlights key observations collected from insights in the field.
